ANNOUNCING NEWEST PUBLICATION: Covington Writers Group Anthology 2016

ANNOUNCEMENT: My latest publication is (as of today) available on Amazon!

Covington Writers Group Anthology 2016.

Words alone can’t express my heightened gratitude for Covington Writers Group, Kentucky. They welcomed me with open arms a year ago, January, and through this group I’ve found wonderful friends and key critique partners in the business of writing.

See my August 28 post to read more about these perks and key reasons to join a writing group:

·      Encouragement

·      Inspiration

·      Motivation

·      Writing Skills

·      Gratitude

In our anthology, my contributions are:

·      He Is, He Is. A Poem, dedicated to my late father

·     My Commencement: A Memoir

·     My Tower to Freedom:  A Memoir

As Lead Editor, I wrote the blurb for the back of our book. Revised by Jenny, our Group Secretary/Treasurer, and awesome mentor to me, it reads:

2016 was our third year as an active writers group and was our most ambitious one so far. In March, we offered a “Writing Romance” workshop and a “Getting Published” seminar in May. In September, we published a new book - Our Traditions: A Collection of Stories with Crafts and Recipes from Our Members. On October 8, 2016, we participated in the “First Annual Indie Author Day”. However, none of these activities prevented us from publishing Anthology 2016, our third annual collection of poems and short stories.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. This book features works by our current CWG members: Jenny Breeden, Leslie Bush, Mikey Chlanda, Patti Kay Emerson, Brad Hudepohl, Elle Mott, L. N. Passmore, Gary Reed and Alvena Stanfield, and a commemorative entry from our former member, Liz Shipwash.

Member GaryReed also has a recently published book out, A Fatal Cell Phone Video. Quoting Gary, he says, “I am re-issuing my novel, Explicit Bias, with a new title and a jazzier cover, and for paperback readers, a new format that is easier to hold. The new version is available on Amazon and should be available soon through Barnes & Noble, IngramSpark, and other outlets. It's the same novel, so please don't buy it thinking it's new. But, hey, feel free to buy it for that book worm on your holiday shopping list! Or, heck, if you haven't read it, it's only $2.99 for the ebook.”

Recent past member and published romance author, Michele Wyan, also has two new books out: Daughter of Kentucky: A Collection of Traditional and Non-Traditional Poetry. The second is Halloween Tails.

And a friend and coworker, Justin Patrick Moore, is also happy about his newest publication. And I’m happy to say, he autographed my copy. Found in the 3rd Issue/Fall 2016, Into the Ruins. It’s a review and survey of characters from James Howard Kunstler’s World Made By Hand series. Of the little bit I’ve read thus far, this Deindustrialized Science Fiction Anthology has me captivated.

Not forgetting, my good writer-friend, Kim, who zeroes in on adult romance poetry, I’m crossing my fingers for her. In shared musings over her ongoing revisions, we got down to the deadline wire two days ago, when she submitted it for consideration at the V-Day Event with Women Writing or (a) Change, Cincinnati.

In the meantime, I’ve been moving forward with my big project, on cue with my writing in these last few chapters. (See my November 27 post,  Writing Marathon for more on that project.)

Aside from all the writing going on, I plan on entering a free contest for writers of memoir. Happening during December 2016, I found out about it through a tweet from Author Chuck Sambuchino. Sponsored by the Seymour Agency, New York and judged by Agent Jennifer Wills, here’s the rules:
